INTRODUCTION. The information herein has been compiled from official publications of the Department of the Army, Office 0f Civil and Defense Mobilization, Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and from other sources. No classified material is included. This is not a substitute for the technical details in other official and more voluminous publications, but has been prepared as a guide to officials engaged in mobilization planning and in the programming of readiness measures. For those who wish to study these weapons effects in greater detail, attention is invited to the bibliography at the end of the text. A glossary of terms will also be found there.
